According to Hussain al Nowais, he was born in the time when life was so hard, which made him push his limits.
In an interview, Hussain al Nowais shared that he has experienced the hardships of their parents back then. And truly time will come that you will reap what you saw, especially that they are now more than capable to sustain themselves due to hard work.
According to him, purified drinking water was a luxurious kind of water for them while only a few can afford to have an air conditioner. Hussain al Nowais even compared Abu Dhabi to a village that is deserted back then. His family stays in Corniche before, and Al Husn was the former name of its centre.
Hussain al Nowais was sent to Qatar to study since Abu Dhabi’s schooling was insufficient.There was a norm before that people leave Abu Dhabi and go to Saudi Arabia or Qatar to get out from a difficult kind of life.
Many families, which included the family of Al Nowais, decided to come back to Abu Dhabi when Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan became the president. The grandfather of Al Nowais, who was once a pearl merchant, worked his way and became a building material and foodstuff trader. The business was good, making their family have a trade organisation.
Al Nowais went to the U.S. to study after he got his high school diploma from a school in Abu Dhabi.
He has shown great strength and optimism after graduating with a business administration degree in the U.S. by going back to UAE in order to practice his skills. In 1978, Al Nowais was known to be one out of few who was able to study outside UAE and was able to successfully communicate with businessmen from different countries.
He was indeed very passionate about what he is doing in his life, which is why there is no doubt why he uplifted their family business into a trusted contracting, distributing, trading, and manufacturing company. According to him, he almost started from nothing in order to build what he has now.
When his career was still trying to grow, one event that he considers as the turning point was when he got a contract for a department in the government in supplying equipment for electrical use.
By improving his acquired skills and knowledge, he became successful in his chosen career.
During the Gulf War, Al Nowais saw their food business as something that would succeed because it is needed. By acquiring businesses that are already failing, he found ways to restructure and make them rise again.
And up to this day, he is still showing and sharing his excellence, such as having Federal Foods.
